The International Conference on Computational Thinking Education 2018 (CTE2018) cum Coding Fair

is organized under the CoolThink@JC Programme. The aim of the Coding Fair is to promote and facilitate students’ computational thinking development in different stages of learning. Through a series of workshops, students will have opportunities to learn and experience coding and computational thinking. Interactive booth exhibitions will also help to inspire their creativity in the field of computational thinking and STEM.

Computational thinking

Computational thinking is the thought processes involved in formulating a problem and expressing its solutions, so as to develop students’ problem solving skills. The 32 primary schools of CoolThink@JC program will deliver interesting Coding Workshops for students of P1-P6. Students in different stages of learning can have a chance to experience coding and learn its basic concept.

As the Parent Seminars are on the Father’s Day, we invited “Daddies” who had outstanding achievements in different fields to share how they used “computational thinking” as a new bridge for parent-child communication, and used their own experience to inspire parents to adapt and mastering this new trend of thought; In addition, there are panel discussion sessions which including school and parent representatives to share their experience and understanding on “computational thinking” education.

STEM is the abbreviation of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic, which integrates the four disciplines into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications. STEM education aims to arouse students’ interest in learning science, develop their skill set to apply knowledge in the real-world, as well as inspire their innovative thinking. A series of STEM workshops are prepared for you.
